However, Nichia overcomes this challenge by exercising comprehensive control over the entire production process—from wafer manufacturing to final product shipment—ensuring unparalleled reliability and performance. We manufacture in Germany aluminum PCB modules with the latest Nichia UV-C or UV-B LEDs, facilitating easy integration into medical, commercial or industrial applications.

UV Light
Ultraviolet (UV) light is invisible to the human eye and has shorter wavelengths than visible light. It plays a vital role across fields such as medicine, science, industry, and disinfection. UV LEDs have replaced traditional mercury-based lamps, offering a compact, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative. The UV spectrum is divided into three main regions based on wavelength and energy: UV-A (315–400 nm), UV-B (280–315 nm), and UV-C (100–280 nm).
UV-C – For Disinfection
UV-C light has the shortest wavelength and highest energy in the UV spectrum. It is highly effective at killing or inactivating microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, making it ideal for disinfection in medical, industrial, and public health settings. However, it must be carefully controlled, as exposure to human skin or eyes is harmful. UV-C LEDs offer targeted, ozone-free disinfection, with advantages like instant full power, energy efficiency, durability, and precise wavelength control.
UV-B – For Health and Horticulture
UV-B light, with moderate energy, stimulates vitamin D production in the skin, supports serotonin levels for mood, and is used in medical therapies and tanning. In plants, UV-B enhances the formation of secondary metabolites—important for pest resistance, coloration, flavor, and even THC production. It also helps enrich vitamin D content in plants. While beneficial in controlled doses, overexposure can lead to skin and eye damage, making dosage and protection essential in UV-B applications.
